You Are the Sun ~ Sara Groves, Add to the Beauty
You are the sun shining down on everyone
Light of the world giving light to everything I see
Beauty so brilliant I can hardly take it in
And everywhere you are is warmth and light
And I am the moon with no light of my own
Still you have made me to shine
And as I glow in this cold dark night
I know I can’t be a light unless I turn my face to you
You are the sun shining down on everyone
Light of the world giving light to everything I see
Beauty so brilliant I can hardly take it in
And everywhere you are is warmth and light
And I am the moon with no light of my own
Still you have made me to shine
And as I glow in this cold dark night
I know I can’t be a light unless I turn my face to you

Goodness
Today in our Beth Moore Bible study group, we watched the video on the topic of goodness, as referred to in the verses about the Fruit of the Spirit. You know, "love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness..." It was fresh to me to learn about this word for goodness, and how in Scripture this word is always associated with DOING good. It is almost as though there is no such thing as just "BEING" good... Forest Gump might have said, "Good is as good does"
One of the statements Beth used to define goodness is that it is kindness acted out. Goodness is doing something... any given thing... for the benefit of another person, with no particular thought for what it might bring to you. It was just so thought provoking really, and I was motivated to try and instill more of this sort of goodness in my kids. You know, that DOING of good that isn't even just because the thing is good, but truly because it will bring joy, comfort, any kind of true benefit to another person.
Of course I'm totally not even doing it justice here, but I'm thinking about it anyhow. This is just another instance when I'm thankful for those groanings that the Holy Spirit translates from my spirit to the ears and heart of the Father. Now THAT is indeed goodness.

A Choice...
"Forbid that we should ever consider the holding of a commission from the King of Kings a sacrifice, so long as other men esteem the service of an earthly government as an honor. I am a missionary, heart and soul. God Himself had an only son, and He was a missionry and a physician. A poor, poor imitation I am, or wish to be, but in this service I hope to live. In it I hope to die. I still prefer poverty and missionary service to riches and ease. This is my choice" ~David Livingstone
I thank God for making me a missionary. I thank Him that my dearest K, and our three are all sold out for missionary life in Ukraine. This life is not an easy one, but it is not what David Livingstone faced in India - not even close.
Be a missionary today... right where you are. Someone needs to hear that Jesus loves them. Someone needs their feet washed, or their wounds dressed, or their dinner served, or their children loved. I can do that... I wanna be that kind of missionary.

Hospitality
"The friendly and generous reception and entertainment of guests, visitors, or strangers."
This is more fun for me than it can possibly be for those guests, visitors, and strangers, isn't it? I dunno. We had our youth over again tonight, and they are such fun. It is such a blessing to be part of their lives and to have this time together. I hope we are somehow a blessing to them. I choose to believe that God arranges it to be that way. It's late, and I'm tired... but I'm thankful.
